CMMI-based Pre-Appraisal (Class C) - EXAMPLE


The on-site period will consist of:

·Walkthrough of Documented Processes at the organizational, project and instantiation level

·Conducting of interviews for Senior Managers, Middle Managers, Project Leaders, and Practitioners

·Consolidation of notes into observations and eventually findings and recommendations

·Development of the Senior Management Presentation

·Senior Management Presentation for the entire set of participants including the senior management team  

 

The entire assessment team works together as a unit for all activities of the assessment.

 

CMMI-based Class C Appraisal Sample Schedule of Events

  • 1 Day              Pre-Appraisal Training (      Overview of AFA Method)

  • 1 Day              Documentation Review

  • 4      Days             Pre-Appraisal      On-Site Period (As described below)

-        ½ Day      Project Manager Interview 1 (2 Project Managers)

-        ½ Day      Project Manager Interview 2 (2 Project Managers)

-        ½ Day      Practitioner Interview – Requirements & Architecture

-        ½ Day      Technical Solution

-        ½ Day      Integration and Systems Test

-        ½ Day      Quality Assurance, Configuration Management, Metrics, Processes

-        ½  Day   Draft Findings Generation

-        ½ Day      Senior Management Presentation (Practitioners, Project Managers, 

         Middle Managers, Senior Managers)


 

ASSUMPTION: Project Manager Interviews could be conducted in a “group” format – at least two of the project managers sould be comfortable being interviewed with another project manager in the room. The standard schedule has a separate interview with each Project Manager.

ASSUMPTION: The one day allocated for documentation is adequate for this surface level appraisal. If a more detailed look at documentation is needed add one more day.
